training tool for troops

this is just a screen shot but

I've build a simple spread sheet that will allow quick updating of the troop experience for cirdastan, simply change the values in the number of months in each category of readiness, training or combat xp and it updates the total xp for each combat unit.

I think once I get a full accounting of how long we've been in Cirdastan (I think I've missed at least half a year at least) our troops should be at level 1.

When I was about 6 I remember being at SM's house and seeing a toy that consisted of plastic ingots and an oven-like device with a transparent dome into which the ingots would be placed. The heat would change them into shapes (e.g., dinosaurs), and if the shapes were reheated they'd change shape again. Nobody I've mentioned this to over the years had heard of this toy, and I'd begun to doubt my memory because ...

Last week at the festival, I saw a W. C. Fields movie (It's a Gift) that was picked by Joe Dante (Gremlins, etc.). After the film he discussed why he picked it as well as some other things that he is working on. On of the things he does is run this website:

Check out the trailers, some of them are quite funny, and the commentary is usually very good. Some of my favourites:

The premise of the battle is one on one combat, which is crazy when you consider that Spartans fought as units and Ninjas preferred to kill by surprise. (not to mention the 1500+ years of history separating the two)

Putting logic aside for a moment, it was an interesting show. Strength vs Stealth, Bronze vs. Steel, Direct vs Devious. They input scads of data and run a simulation 1000 times.

While you might not allow me to have them as a mere Pali , I think healing and divination are usually available to all/most clerics, certainly healing to all non evil clerics.

Just wondering.

One of the chief problems when defining a skill system is making them "equal" (e.g., who would choose "tie a bow" over "conquer the world"?). Actually, to me, equality would largely consist of the amount of time and effort to learn and develop a skill. But playability is perhaps the overriding concern.

So, should there be a "wilderness survival" skill (keyed to climate and terrain), or should it be broken up into constituent skills instead?

I have a plastic water-gun that could easily be mistaken for a real Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum revolver. It has an 8" barrel (Dirty Harry's was 6.5"). Grip is brown plastic; the rest of the gun is black. Overall length is 14".

Would make a great toy. I would have loved it as a kid. Free.

Genuine M29:

Probably from 1982-85. I believe this map predates the Deluge that created an inland sea.
