Does re-boiling water reduce the quality of tea (or other food items) made from it?

Today I boiled water to make tea, but didn't actually make the tea in time. So I dumped it and boiled more water. And again. Blame the computer for this; I can't pull myself away from it. I've wasted litres of water on the assumption that boiled water has been chemically changed for the worse. Now, the tea is steeping, and all I have to do is hit "Send" and add milk.

Not that I know of, I often overfill the kettle and use it twice before refilling and don't notice the difference.. If we were away for a couple of days I'd dump it but most mornings I just top it up and boil.

I've re-boiled (is that a word?) water before and never noticed a difference.

Should not be a problem unless you have very hard water. By re-boiling you could end up with a higher mineral concentration per liter of water than you normally would as the water has boiled away leaving the minerals behind. It could leave scale deposits on the kettle as well.

The particles left behind in the water are often blamed for bad tea. I believe your water would have to be really horrible for you to notice the impact in a couple of boilings.

Probably not.

P.S. I recommend using a hyphen if you re-send an email in order to avoid a misunderstanding: "I resent this email".
