so any ideas what people are going to use their metal for?

My rough guess based on all the swords in the magic books
a base +5 sword would cost 5 lb in metal plus +- 15,000 gp ish

Any extra added features could boast this cost significantly. You'd need to sell 1/2 your metal to enchant a mere 5 lbs of it. When you look closely in the books very few items of any kind are actually +5. Is this because of rarity or the difficulty and cost to magic it up that high?

Selling this metal may actually be a political act, if it is that rare who we choose to sell it to may need to be considered.

" Yes Mr NameWhichCannotBeSpoken we do have 390 lbs of of adamantite in stock. Oh, 79 unholy avengers, yes, yes very nice, good luck with that. Will that be gold, gems or wishes?"

I don't wear armour or use a shield but, Bracers AC 2? AC 0?

Maybe a long sword for the primary hand

Maybe a short sword (for the 2nd hand)

Thief tools that convey a bonus of some kind

Selling to party members - Getting out of debt and then build a house with proceeds.

I'll keep enough for a long sword and a shield. Adamantite bracers is an interesting idea.

While the Dm guide doesn't specify material and it doesnt quite make the +5 rule, bracers pack a lot of magic into a small package, they also cost a lot at the high end, So its quite believable that the most effective bracers would be adamantium.

Willy, I can see buying a off hand weapon, hell maybe even one with an extra ability against monks(considering where we found you), but a frost brand is a pretty substantical weapon that will hit nearly anything but gods.

I'm torn, I'd like a really good sword, or a really good halberd but it would certainly be presumtous to comission my own holy sword, so that's out.I considered a purpose sword that relates to my situation, but who would I claim my enemies to be. Orcs 1/2 orcs, orogs, ? I don't think so I can kill most of them with my minimum damage. Unless it had some special ability that gave me an extra attack, functioned as a symbol of discord or fear for orcs within 20 ftsomething unique and funky

Considering my faith and Cirda area of expertise maybe a sword that's keyed to the defense of cirda/cirdastan. +2 normally but in defense of our settlement has a higher bonus and more perks.Certainly something Rild would want but it would little pratical use.

I think for Rild the +5 might be less important than what other skills that might be built into the sword,

I also want an enchanted hammer for smith work, something that will bring my skill up, or work faster. I figure between Mopar and Me I can pay it off in savings from armour repairs.

The frost brand is quite powerful and so the long sword replacement is likely last on the list. As far as I know, there are no other weapons that can hit +6 (all be it in limited circumstances with the frost brand). The additional power of fire resistance and putting out fires makes it pretty "cool" (pun intended).

I like the off hand weapon idea and imparting an additional power or 2. It would also consume a fairly small amount of adamantite. What does a short sword weigh? 4 pounds?

I will ask about high end bracers but we'll see. These represent a very small amount of adamantite. less than a pound.

The thief tools would also be a very small amount of the metal. also less than a pound.

Kubert - I think you should commission a halberd of your own design and pray to Cirda for the bestowing of a holy sword. This avoids the presumptuous issue. If you use a shield I'd think about that. It would go well with the holy sword (assuming it would be a one handed sword).

I thought of a better halberd, while the +5 would be important for damage and hitting, -5 speed would be the best perk, It would bring the halberd back into the median innitiative roles. For a shield its opportunity costs, I already have a +2, so any cost I incure to get +5 gives me less utility, I also use the halberd lots so the shield does not get constant use.

Make the halberd your first choice. I would also suggest you save enough adamantite to make a shield and if you luck into a holy sword you can assess at that time if you sell the metal or make the shield. taking your armour class down 3 points isn't a bad thing. Try to add an additional ability to the shield as well (functions as a ring of fire resist, or improves your undead turning abilities, or whatever Cirda would like to see)

Crida priests cannot turn undead and until we can pin it down exactly who imprisoned her I cannot assume what her personal enemy if any would be. As a hearth goddess I see a more passive/defensive stance would be the norm.

As the most visible representative of Cirda outside the town I suppose bringing my stats, esp charisma more in line with my role would be something important to Cirda, however its also something that I should change on personal level rather than expect I'll be able to carry my weapons into all situations.

If I was asking for an extra perk added to a weapon, shield etc I definitely think it would be a utility feature rather than just more killing. I like gimmicks

I have ideas but I'm not spending gold on myself until the town building program is complete and or until I can contribute some of the smith work myself.

Forgot about the undead bit... If you don't want to spend $ at this point, I'm sure you'll just keep the metal for later use.

I think a shield lines up well with the hearth goddess motif. It is a defensive tool in most applications (ignoring things like shield bash). I think adding utility functions or additional defensive capabilities would be kind of cool.

What kind of utility functions do you have in mind?

Here's a brain dump of defensive ideas (some good some not so good)...
functions as a ring of fire resistance
functions as a ring of warmth
adds plus 2 to all saving throws
functions as a brooch of shielding
adds additional protection vs missile attacks (or makes you invulnerable to normal missiles)
Invulnerability (as potion) once a day

Utility ideas
Shield of useful items (see robe of same name)
spell storing (clerical only)
spell turning
Heal (as spell) once a day (or neutralize poison or cure disease or remove curse...)
functions as a ring of truth
Regeneration - as ring (good luck getting that one past Jonathan)
