PostSubject: A proposal   Fri Feb 20, 2009 5:00 pm

The subject is accurate. I proposed to Heather on Valentine's Day with an 18-karat, white gold, diamond-encrusted padparadscha (red) sapphire--the rarest of the sapphires.

Heather had found the stone on the Web. After ordering it, I secretly created a fake website that spoofs the real one but has a slightly different behaviour. Just after midnight on the 14th, I had her look at the fake page. Imagine her surprise when she saw the "Status: Sold" text change and enlarge to "Sold to Steve" and then "Sold to Steve for Heather", etc. When she turned towards me I was kneeling beside her with the real ring.

She said yes.

No specific date has been set. We are looking into being married in Switzerland.

We both dislike the idea of a religious wedding, though there's no getting away from state involvement. Grrr.

Damn, is she swiss?

While romatic and exotic, foreign weddings do exclude many people who might want to take part.

of course that might be the point

Thank you.

She's been to Europe and liked Switzerland. I've never been to Europe and am interested in just about all of it from any era or period.

Neither of us desires a conventional wedding.
