Just noticed this today: There are thousands--if not tens of thousands--of ladybugs outside the building where I live. They may have emerged from the adjoining ravine. Many have settled on lower-storey exterior walls. I started walking towards the back of the building to investigate, but within 10-20 seconds, about a half-dozen had landed on me. (By the way, the Asian variety does bite; not sure what kind are patrolling our grounds.)
