The Creed of Rild Empty
PostSubject: The Creed of Rild   The Creed of Rild Icon_minitimeWed Sep 16, 2009 12:53 pm

As some day I will have minions I figured I needed to set some of the rules, provided they fit Cirda's(jonathans) vision.

I Rild, Defender of the Faith of the Restored Goddess Cirda find myself in the unique and unsettling situation of being the only Paladin of Cirda in existence. Unable to measure myself by the lost standards of those before me and knowing I am both unworthy and unprepared for the responsibilities I have taken on, I can do no more than set reasonable and attainable standards and goals for myself and the fledgling order I represent.

For those who will eventually follow and supersede me, understand that my example for you will surely be flawed and inadequate; know that my goals will not be exactly as yours. In the future when our faith is more widely known and secure you will find that honour and purity will become a more important measure of this order but at this time with but a few score followers, five priestesses' and myself, I see the survival of the faith as paramount and I will risk my life, honour, purity and my granted privilege to protect it, if thats what it takes. I pledge to uphold the teachings and the mandate of my order to the best of my ability, but should my behaviour be seen as lacking I beg that Cirda may forgive my transgressions and allow me to endure this honour until I die in her service or find someone more worthy of the burden.

Rules of the Order

A Paladin of Cirda will accept and fulfill all quests from Cirda or her high priestess.

Defense of the faith is our primary objective.

The order will strive to ward and guide the priestesses of Cirda as they travel and minister in her name. Our sisters are a rare and valuable commodity to be protected at all costs.

The order will protect the temples and holy things of Cirda

The importance of spreading the word of Cirda to a world that has forgotten her must never be forgotten, members of the order will actively spread her word, look for fertile souls and plant the seeds of faith.

As the hearth is holy we will always strive to aid those innocents whose homes are endangered. Even during war those who remain in their homes and take not arms against us are not our enemy and must be treated justly and protected

In war, those of wholesome race and honour who beg peace will be be granted parole and marked. Those wounded who survive battle will be granted succour and paroled or ransomed as fits their station after hostilities have ended. Those who break parole will face death.

Those of unwholesome race or without resonalable expectation of honour will face prison or death.

Before a Paladin of Cirda can accept the boon of a bonded war horse they must, as I did, bring forth 5 valid candidates for the priesthood or our order in addition to any additional quest requested by Cirda.

Further Paladins of Cirda must found a new house of worship before they may accept the boon of casting spells or the privilege of establishing their own hearth

All members of the order will tithe 20%

All weapons are permitted as it is the intent of the blow not the tool is the measure of an action.

All armour is sanctioned for that which protects the faithful is just.

The use of poison, disease or necromancy as a weapon is banned.

All members who acquire more items of power than is seemly for their station must identify those surplus items suitable for the brethren and sisters of Cirda and gift them freely to the betterment of all without burden of tithe. All other additional items will be sold and are subject to tithe.

As our numbers are small and since new hearths cannot be founded without new followers this order will not enforce celibacy upon its members. Those that choose to forgo celibacy however must do so within a faithfull marriage.

I believe these articles are just and in keeping with the ideals of Cirda and I pedge to uphold and enforce them.

Lord Rild Defender of the Faith to Cirda
aka
Rild of Rookroost
the Dred Bandit Rild,
Lord Rild of Cirdastan,

I am concerned about the 5 new priests or paladin thing but I suppose a person of the charisma that I should have would not find that too onerours, after all they have 5 levels to achieve it.
