Something about the imagery of Cirda at 3 different ages kept coming back to me (no it wasn’t the burrito I had for breakfast) and then the other image of the 4 elements, but something did not fit, but I've figured it out.
Historically people considered that there were 4 elements, earth, fire water and air, but pagans and wiccans, and even medieval alchemists claimed that there were 5 earth air water fire and either spirit or Ether.
That's when I figured it out, the puzzle of 4 elements to release Cirda was either simplified to 4 elements or the attempt to release her implicitly used the 5 element (spirit) as I concentrated on the task of delving the giant gems purpose.
If I'm right and we are talking 5 elements and the Wiccan pentagram is the appropriate symbol, either way however Cirda's imagery is stolen from the Wiccan Triple Goddess who is represented as the maiden, mother and Crone, 3 phases of the moon, or a trinity knot (unsurprisingly another pagan image stolen by Christianity)
A triple goddess was used in Greek and Roman rites (as was the Hindu Triumvirate of male gods), but the neo pagan/wiccan imagery is simple and easily adaptable to small paint brushes,
So who likes what images?
I thinking the moons, knot or pentagram would all be easy to paint small for my order or the church, but what would be a good emblem for the town itself. It’s too bad 6 of us found Cirda and not 5 then we could use the pentagram.
