| Wouldn't the magic-using types and those with spellcraft have been tipped off by the premature arrival of "Vatun" during the summoning ceremony? For all Mogar knows, the manifestation of spell effects could begin before the ritual is completed. Seeing "Vatun" doesn't necessarily prove that the summoning was completed; he might have been a quasi-material image at that point.
If our suspicions had been aroused, we could have tried to escape with the swords.

| Good point. However, the swords disappeared as "Vatun" appeared.
ps. there was a scripted answer if someone had asked why "Vatun" had appeared before the ritual had been completed.

| If we got too pushy, Iuz is a god and would have nuked us.
We'd also miss the 2nd half of the adventure...

| This is the problem with a pre packaged campaign, you can't allow players to make massive changes so you write provisos that stop the story line from changing from the mandated conclusion(s) of each modules, lest they not be able to use your next product. This is stifling to a campaign in that players need strive for a goal just wait for the next plot to drop in their lap. I think It's also a plot by govenment forces who've taken over the gaming industry trying to instill a sense of unalterable destiny into the most creative, imaginative members of society. You cannot make major changes to the system the only changes you can make are to your personal accumulation of wealth and toys, but never to the levels of the elite that make policy. | |

| how do we know what will happen if we do this again? Was the whole story just a ruse by Iuz to allow him to manipulate the northern tribes? Will he appear again? | |

| As I said previously....
The 2nd half of the adventure.
Which means... Treasure, experience, fun. Let us not get too excited about the redo.

| When I summarized this plot to Heather, she asked how we could tolerate playing in a game with such an awful/evil outcome. Ha ha. | |

In this case, though, we had plenty of free will--or so it seemed.
