Here's the link for the 3.0 castle building guide.

The file is called castles. (Original, eh?)

well its a whole new system to learn but costs look a little more in line but until do a comparative pricing I cant tell for sure

one thing that is really stupid, their decision to make times really short so not to take away from the fast pace life of an adventure WTF?

With these rules you could conceivable build a keep as fast as our wooden fort, and they assume you will use magic where cost effective,, I guess in V3 magic is even more prolific????

So IMHO its still out of whack and would need mods before being acceptable.

the ability to cost in magic defenses and effects is good, but you can get a hell of a lot of men and stone walls for some of the magical add ons.

My feelings when I read the 3.0 rules was that they were going for a more high-fantasy feel, and a less 'realistic' aspect to the game. (The whole idea of feats, for example.) I'm not knocking the system (I think it works), but if you say that you can put up a castle in a very short time (the image of Amish having a castle-raising weekend is going through my mind at the moment! Weird!) that would sort of gibe with the way 3.0 goes.
