| We talked about Labour Day (Sept 6) evening on Monday, as we all seemed to posess inferior social lives. Is everybody still on for that? I am.
p.s. Although, with it being a holiday, perhaps we could start earlier.

| Your just lucky that Jonathan allowed you to keep you COM stat. If I was running it I would have said that because its a curse you don't suddenly just become some uber feminine woman but simply a very manly female version of yourself. You don't become Megan Fox , you become Carol Pope or an East German Swimmer. Remember its a curse!!!!!! Conceivably he could have made you reroll your ST DX Con because its a whole new body, likewise he should definitely lower your charisma because your learned behaviors, body language suit the cultural norms for a Man not Wo man, you will appear awkward and out of place in social encounters plus the unfamiliar hormone rushes and mood swings are going to make you a right bitch! That and a 1d4 Int reduction. | |

| And when you write a gaming system you can create your own cursed items where you can extrapolate the negatives as far as you like. The belt would be much more difficult an item to create if it had all of the other effects you are suggesting. Keep in mind... It's not science - it's magic. It does one thing - it's magic. There is no need to infer other effects - it's magic. The DMs guide is pretty clear - it's magic. It seems unlikely that the same bio-mechanical rules that govern our world have any effect in Greyhawk. You'd have to rewrite the entire Monster manual (how the hell does a dragon, Xorn or a bullet exist following the rules of biology) This is a TERRIBLE curse as it is (in most cases anyway) - it targets the PLAYER much more than the character. This curse would be a great tragedy for the gamer who has a vision of their character that is tied in to their psychie. They would not be able to adapt - they'd hate playing the charcter away as they could no longer relate to it. In my case, after creating the character I actually thought I should have made it female (I've never had a female character before). I had inquired repeatedly about the gender change (Jonathan can attest to that) - I am the one case in a million where the change is not unwelcome (and that was well established before I put on the belt) - it's an opportunity to explore different role-playing. In this case, the curse did not throw the gamer into some form of depression and mourning over the loss. Since there are no gender specific modifiers around stats in the game, there is no precedent, driver, or reason to think re-rolling is necessary. That said, I do find it hard to argue with the drop in intelligence... | |

| Actually I don't see how you can argue the carole pope rule would be a harder item to create. In reality to make you female all that has to happen is swapping man bits for girl bits on the exact same body(no point going into DNA) That would be the fast and dirty therefore easiest curse and the most disturbing to all involved.
Making you a properly functioning woman with the Psyche and DNA match would not really be a curse because you would feel normal and at ease in the body, therefore no penalty to the character just the player. That's not a curse just a forced adjustment in your role play.
In your case it does not offend you but it probably would offend willy or in its current incarnation FREE of WILLY.
When I did this to Don I made it very clear it was a bits swap and his Psyche did not change, a curse to both him and his character.

There is little else that would be worse for most players than a forced change in role play. Not being able to play your character in the way they want to would be nasty (most of the time). Any other "adjustments" are undocumented and unsubstatiated fabrications based on interpretations of science, DNA, biology, etc... This ain't science... It's magic. When I put the silly thing on I was somewhat hoping it would be what it turned out to be (this seems obvious given my previous enquiries into the character gender change). Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with it.
