| While talking to the village elder, it was discovered that the ruined city to the south was some 200+ miles away. As walking there would take some three weeks, a debate ensued over the wisdom of taking Cirda's Arrow down south and hiding it at a spot somewhat nearer to the city. Eventually it was agreed that the dangers associated with this outweighed the benefits, and the group resigned itself to a long walk (both ways!). The trip south was reasonably uneventful with a few exceptions: a large snake that bit Mopar, a slimy thing that nearly landed on Libram's head, and a pair of spiders that attacked the party, but were quickly dispatched. A large river was almost an obstacle until Rotok was reminded that he could now cast the spell "Fly". He did so and the river ceased to be an obstacle. While under the effects of the spell, Mopar took the oppurtunity to do some aerial reconnaissance spotting the lake off to the south of the party. One morning around this time, a large noise woke the party from their sleep. This large clap was followed by a distant rumbling sound that continued for the next few days. The party assumed that it was the mountain range to the south, as it is known to be volcanic (hence the "Hellfurnaces"). A cloud of ash, gritty and somewhat irritating to the eyes and throat seemed to be the worst effect of the eruption. A few days later, the party arrived at the city. It was apparent that the city had been abandoned for some time, as the outer edges of the city had been completly swallowed up by the jungle. More ash was apparent here, perhaps a layer of 1 inch, covering over the city. Small animal tracks were evident in the ash, but no major predators were obvious. The city itself was spread out, but there were numerous examples of multi-story buildings (mostly 2 story structures, but a few of 3 or 4 stories).
How does Sunday Feb 1 or Feb 8 sound?

I forgot to check the page. What did I miss? We climbed the large pyramid that dominates the ruined city via an external staircase. From that vantage point, we saw several undead figures emerge from the lake and disappear into another part of the city. We entered the temple at the top of the pyramid (our native guide remained on the roof to keep watch), located a trapdoor behind the altar, and descended to a crypt complex rich in treasure. Some mechanism sealed us inside the pyramid but opened a deep well in the floor, which we just started to explore. Also: a brief lightning storm battered the plaza near the pyramid as we walked towards it, and the associated rain was corrosive. A day or two earlier, while en route to the city, we heard rumbling and saw clouds of ash--as from a distant volcano. The city itself is coated in ash. We wondered where you were.
