yes its been a slow day at work

During our low level Hiatus I would like to achieve a number of things, some are more personal than others but many need input or approval by council

1. Embassy to Celenne, make some connections, soothe over any concerns about our stirring up the orcs, maybe build up some trade,

2. Infrastructure building, road finished all the way to the duck blind, porta keep installed as a bolt hole for trappers, woodsmen and farmers working out that far. Signal towers, fire or heliograph and an excavated mill pond up stream.
I would also like to begin work on my own abode atop the nearby hill and temple

I’m working on a design for you to cost for my keep/temple housing, and will begin bringing in stone for such constructions.

3. With future building in mind renew the contract for the gnome miners/prospectors and let them continue surveying north towards the DMZ looking for valuables/base metals or even decent building stone and gravel deposits.

4. Since I don’t attract followers I must go looking for henchmen/retainers to take care of my personal business and property while I travel. I must also do my duty and try to find other suitable candidates to join my order. With all this in mind I need to spend time with as many of the recruits who’ve joined the faith and see if they are of the quality required. Of course I know I won’t find any considering the stats required to be a paladin; its got to be something wacky like one in 500,000 would even have the mental, physical and moral strength to be a paladin and with a worship base of several score, I’m gonna die and old man or become a palalich before there is anyone to replace me but I will try as it is my duty.

5 In order to increase the training of the troops I plan to look for a few semi retired swordsmen to hire or entice them to my service for a year or two. These may include any I find for henchmen or simply professional trainers on contract. I think between a few new hires, myself, Libram and Mopar we could see all of our full troops achieve 1st level and make a goodly portion of the militia less dangerous to themselves ie 1-1.

What time commitment are the fighter types willing to put in for training the troops during our holiday??

6. Have the scouts work further inland to the Celene border with the intent on identifying and micro settlements or hermits/woodsmen etc, basically a census of the region. I would also ask the druid to help out in this.

7. I have also offered employment to Doug for the duration of the down time to search the cities to find appropriate people for me to meet and consider hiring, as well as hiring people to reconnoitre and spy on the three towns south of us, I’ll let him explain and roll play those things I’ve requested of him.

8. Hire a bard to construct several ballads about the return of Cirda, the birth of Cirdastan and our battles. Much praise and hype about touting the benefits of worshiping her, (getting in the the ground floor so to speak). Multil level religion, amway with goddesses lol!

9. Petition local towns, Safeton, Hardby, Greyhawk , Danvers, the town with the zombie issue, Narwell, and Gryrax for permission to buy land for a small shrine. While we don’t have a plethora of priestly types yet to man these locations there is no point holding off purchasing land and perhaps even commissioning some simple shrines, for the sake name recognition. After all religion is just marketing! With the shrines and bards we will fan interest and attract curious visitors to the town, temple and hopefully make some converts.

10 As much as I was shot down for the idea originally I still don’t see a problem with trying to set up a small residential school and looking around the GreyHawk for orphans and street kids especially refugees from my homeland. The kids of various ages could be given an education they would not get on the street. They would be brought up in the one true faith and as they age they could learn soldiering, be apprenticed to various crafts people in the village, join the priesthood, the holy protectors, get basic training under Aurctorus, or work the land. If the children were really young they could be fostered out to families within the town that would be given a fee or tax break for doing this service. I will even recruit and pay for a real teacher and house staff from my personal funds. We need to bring a teacher in anyway for the locals.

While I originally joked of Janissaries which I probably could still justify as holy work, these kids would not be treated as such.

This is not a system to indenture people to the town and they have the freedom to leave town when they are of age. This is a charitable move to help man kind with my emphasis on displaced bandits. This is something I would be encouraged to do with my wealth as a Paladin. If some stay to the benefit of the town, even better!

I would even be willing to take diseased children off the street or from hospices that charitable organizations cannot aid, and then heal them and give them a new life, that’s pretty damn fine charitable work for a paladin, at least I’m not charging for my service like some of those stinking priests who’ve raised and cured us in some campaigns. I’m also not talking 100s of kids, more like dozen or a score to start.

Certainly above board when compared to our zombie discussions

11. Research about the city and villans where Solomans sister is being held, find someone who has connections to the place and see if they would act as a go between to negotiate her sale/release. If not hire someone to spy on her captor so that we may plan for a future release, or gather enough intell to hire another more experienced group to do the deed.

Something we should have done as soon as we got rich, and a good theme to get Harrison invovled again.

As per Doug’s comment last night regarding the low lev guys I would like to begin advancing time and events so that our plans will not conflict with real play time later.

At last session we had landed in Greyhawk just in time for some big festival and I’d like to do some stuff from that point

1. Find a Tailor/Designer and pay them handsomely to open up shop (party or not) and make a couple of prototype sets of vestments/dress uniforms for Lysse and myself that would be stylish and appropriate for out status as high priestess and defender of the faith. Get the prototypes ready asap, $$$$ not an issue and sweeten the pot with orders for enough less ornate sets for all the little priestly girls back home and a few tabards for future use by my holy warriors.

2. Once properly adorned set out to learn out about the political interplay between the other factions of Cirda’s pantheon and the reaction to Cirda’s return. Provided sentiment is not totally hostile we will rent a nice posh place and have a nice feast and great with our brethren! The whole party is welcome, as is the sage(s) that research Cirda for us. Soloman might wish to invite some of the notables he has been playing ambassador with.

3. Query about and find us a nice talented bard to immortalize the story of freeing Cirda, our brave battles for survival and the mystery of the space ship.

4. Hire a quality scribe or two willing to return to the town and begin documenting the words and new history of the faith as well as the towns history.

5. Hire a teacher, as we will need one for both the town youth and likely to make sure all our new little priestesses are literate and reasonably well rounded in religious history, occult and the political situation in this region of the world. (I don’t know how bright or educated these girls were to start with so best we make sure)

6. Question , while I only submitted girls for the test to pick the first high priestess, is the religion inclusive can men be ordained?

7. Commission 7 more sets of Cirda statues , 4 much closer to real life sized for future smaller shrines, 1 slightly smaller than Cirdastan’s, and 2 private room sized.

8. As I understand it Non citizens cannot buy land in the city, so look to buy a building site outside the city walls for a 2x medium stone building (as per castle book) and put into motion those things needed to build a small temple in the lesser slums? with a small school, soup kitchen and nursing station. (hire staff, guards, builders, architect as appropriate) no need to rush construction but do get things going.

9. Reach out to the dominate power/thugs/personalities in the neighbourhood and voice my concerns over the long term safety and sanctity of this project. The importance to me that its social services and sanctuary status not be messed with and explain the benefits its presence will offer the community. Apply small bribes and subtle warnings where needed.(we can email or skype roll play anything you wish to.

10. Hire 100 casual labourers for digging and toting and 25 assorted stone workers of various levels of skill, arrange transport, tools and provisions for them. (they will be assigned to building my keep/castle/enclosure or the temple. I suggest we take turns doing our personal building rather than bid up labour and material cost in the region.)

11. Begin searching bars, guild houses and hospices for swordsmen of high skill and good repute but unable to work because of disease. Look especially for those who receive praise and references for loyalty and honour from their peers. Offer up to 10 of these men a new lease on life with a year long contract, lodging and a cure for their disease.

12 Approach the cities orphanages and see if we might acquire some bright young children to foster at in Cirdastan.

I found a designer and had liturgical duds made for Lysse and the girls for 2 ranks of priests, and causual and dress outfits.

General reception to the return of Cirda had been good and there is a slow seepage of memories on the higher planes about her past. Lysse and myself invited representatives from the majority of faiths in Greyhawk to a fete so that she could meet her peers and make nice with the competition just in case there is some lack of gratiousness to her sudden leap to power. (she's started with more power than Ulthor has after years of work, as an example)

Representatives of numerous faiths showed up including Beory, Procan, Rao, Heironeous, Norebo, Obad-Hai, Pholtus, ST. Cuthbert. to meet Lysse , Rild and the other Lords of Cirdastan. While it was a simple meet and great It was my intention to make connections and see if any of the more martial/militant faiths would see clear to offer some technical support to our opperations. I moved Ulthor especially to see if the hierachy of Heironeous could be convinced to send logisitical help as military trainers, architechs, engineers or even young zealot priests wishing to fight the good fight against the tide of evil to the south.
If Ulthor had of been a PC this would have been a good time for someone to roll play the encoutner.

Somewhere between the yawning and the scotch we talked about this but ended up not acutally hiring someone. Still on the books as a thing to do.

Sages being too specialized and expensive we decided that a couple of scribes would be hired to come back to Cirdastan, One to document the teachings and revelations as Cirda gets her brain back. 15gp/month + 5GP/ month for board

The other will be employed as both elementary teacher for the local kids, but more importantly to make sure Lysse and the other priestesses are literate, up on basic world religions, politics etc. It's a big world we will be sending these girls out to witness in affraid 20pg/month

Mostly girls yes but "special dudes" could occassionaly become priests if you know what I mean lol!

Did not get this done, as Jonathan did not have the notes on what the original cost.

Apparently the ghetto is really a no mans land and most of the salvagable immigrants from the recent wars have moved on or into the city proper. New locations for satelite temples of Cirda would be on the Highroad about 5 miles out of town along the trade routes and near smaller settlements that may not be properly serviced .

Another novel placement would be at the temporary camp of the Greyhawk army at the DMZ.. This has been established for some time and must be attracting camp followers, tent bars ect. Close enough to be monitored by the Mother church and also probably underserviced.

I did not get these done during our little unplay session but it looks like approaching the adventures/merc guild would be a quick and easy way of getting some leads on people that might suit my purpose. ( Jonathan please generate some candidates for my perusal) Also please see if you can down load those two articles from dragon 45 the alternative alignment Paladins
and 53, the article on heal spells vs various strengths of diseases.

I did not even broach the orphan topic until we get a teacher, shelter and local foster parents lined up.

I'm checking for those articles, hopefully I will be able to chase them down. As to the male priests of Cirda, they probably play for the same "team" as your characters do-unless there's something about your characters that you're not telling me Question I'm also checking into costs for the statues and will get back to you on that.
